Dr. Valerie Edwards grew up in New Jersey and then spent some
time throughout the Western United States. Upon
returning to the East Coast, she earned her Bachelor of
Science in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She
went on to study at Oregon State University and is a 1989 graduate
of the combined Oregon State, Washington State and University of
Idaho Veterinary Program. She met and married her
husband, Steven Karras, while enrolled in that program. The
family moved to Virginia upon graduation and Dr. Edwards has
been on staff at Cave Spring Veterinary Clinic since that time. In
1993, Dr. Edwards became a hospital director and clinic
owner. She has continued to develop her special interest
in the practice of rabbit medicine and surgery. As a
companion animal practitioner, Dr. Edwards is a member of:
American Association of Feline Practitioners,
American Animal Hospital Association,
American Veterinary Medical Association,
Virginia Veterinary Medical Association,
Roanoke Valley Veterinary Medical Association
Her hobbies include watersports, reading and spending time with
her husband and two daughters.
