Dr. Valerie Edwards grew up in New Jersey and then spent time living and traveling throughout the Western United States. Upon returning to the East Coast, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She went on to study at Oregon State University and is a 1989 graduate of the combined Oregon State, Washington State and University of Idaho Veterinary Program. She met and married her husband, Steven Karras, while enrolled in that program.
The family moved to Virginia upon graduation and Dr. Edwards has been on staff at Cave Spring Veterinary Clinic since 1989. In 1993, Dr. Edwards became the Hospital Director and a clinic owner. She has continued to develop her special interest in the practice of "pocket pet" medicine and surgery.

Her hobbies include watersports, reading, and spending time with her husband and two wonderful daughters.
